Wheelchair Sports and Adaptive Fitness

What the Program Offers

Our Wheelchair Sports and Adaptive Fitness programs support youth and young adults through movement, teamwork, and adaptive training. The heart of this effort is the Las Floristas Halos pediatric wheelchair basketball program, serving both Juniors and Futures teams. Players train under Head Coaches Tiffany Yonemoto and Rick Tarambulo with consistent practices, adaptive equipment, summer camps, and travel to regional and national tournaments, including the National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament.

Youth and young adults aged 15-25 have an additional option with a one-year membership that provides adaptive fitness and aquatic therapy through our partnership with the Don Knabe Wellness Center.

Why It Matters

Adaptive sports help the kids build confidence, discipline, independence, and connection. Players learn responsibility, teamwork, and goal setting while developing physical strength and self-belief. Despite geographic challenges, the Las Floristas Halos have earned a strong national reputation, producing college-bound players, nationally recognized competitors and paralympians.

Wellness programming provides an additional pathway to physical health, mental well-being, and lifelong fitness habits.

Making It Possible

This program is made possible through support for coaching, equipment, travel, and facility partnerships — ensuring youth can participate, train, and thrive regardless of health and financial barriers.
